North Point Church (NPC) is hiring a new Director of Music Ministries. This person will play a pivotal role in leading our congregation through inspiring and engaging musical worship experiences.
General Description
The Director of Music Ministries plans, coordinates, and executes the musical components of weekly worship and special services that honor Christ and disciple his people. This person works under the direction of the Lead Pastor and in cooperation with the Worship Planning Team.
General Expectations
1. Committed to Christ and regularly spends time in prayer, Bible study and personal discipleship.
2. Actively builds friendships with those without Christ and disciples believers.
3. Advanced-level skill in a musical instrument; previous experience as a conductor and/or worship music leader preferred; degree in music preferred.
4. Committed to working as part of a team; strong interpersonal and leadership skills; encourages volunteers and other staff personally and in our ministry together.
5. Committed to the NPC statement of faith, mission, bylaws, and policies, with a lifestyle that exhibits the fruits of the Spirit and growth in personal holiness.
6. Engages in ongoing education and training related to his or her area of ministry.
7. Required to submit to a background check before employment and every two years thereafter.
Responsibilities
1. With the Lead Pastor, plan and lead weekly rehearsals, worship services and special services (Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Christmas Eve, and others as agreed upon) that incorporate music of many styles and genres, both traditional and contemporary.
2. Meet weekly with Pastor and Worship Planning Team members to plan regularly scheduled worship services and special events.
3. Attend scheduled staff meetings to coordinate music ministries with other ministries of North Point, including children and youth ministry, youth choir, and technical support and other volunteer staff.
4. Recruit, engage, and develop volunteers of all generations as musicians and leaders.
5. Keep records of music played at services in a physical and/or electronic music library.
6. Request the purchase of and maintain copyright permission for all music, keeping accurate records of licenses the church owns.
7. Provide musical support for other special events as requested and able.
8. With the Finance Team and elders, participate in annual goal setting and development of the worship music budget.
9. Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
Compensation and Reviews:
This is a 20-hour position which does not include benefits, paid at an hourly rate of $32.17. Performance reviews will be conducted annually.
