God's Design for the Family

There are some moments in human history which change the world forever. Sometimes they come in the form of an historical event, or an invention, or sometimes a theology/philosophy. This Sunday we will not only read one more section in Paul's letter to the Ephesians, but will discover that Ephesians 6:1-4 contains instructions on familial life that forever changed Western Civilization. As you reflect on today's message, the following questions may be helpful:

1. These verses pertain to all of us since we all had parents. Reflect on your Father and Mother's parenting styles. Where did they fulfill the high calling of parenthood and where did they fall short? What traits or emotions or impact did your parents have on your life (for good and possibly for bad).

2. If you are a parent (or a granparent), how do today's verses challenge you or speak into your parenting style?



3. How do you reflect on the question of whether God is calling us to honor a parent who has not acted honorable?
